A man was stabbed today in a fight on a Metro Red Line train and taken to a hospital in grave condition, authorities said.
After the stabbing, the train came to stop at the Vermont/Santa Monica Station about 9:20 a.m., and the victim was taken to a hospital, according to Metro spokesman Marc Littman.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokeswoman Katherine Main said the wounded man was in grave condition when taken to a hospital.
The station was closed until about 11 a.m. while an investigation was conducted. Trains were "single-/tracking" through the area, Littman said.
According to some broadcast reports, the victim was cut in the throat.
Sheriff's deputies with the department's Transit Services Bureau were investigating the attack.
Only a vague description of the suspect -- a man -- was immediately available, sheriff's Lt. Albert Maldonado said.
