Anonymous: Inappropriate? Totally appropriate as I see our town deteriorate. Hope you have plans to move out. Longer you wait, the more it will become obvious. The more it becomes obvious, the more your property values will drop. What will Walnut be like when the violence hits Chinese newspapers and they begin to move out in droves. It will happen.

Walnut CAN go downhill like Rowland and Covina if government allows it and voters keep drinking the Kool-aid vs. demanding action. This shooting, a STABBING in Suzanne Park (!), and homeless people are now the NORM in Walnut? Instead of demanding corrective action people are willing to make excuses? The City Manager makes 1/4 million dollars a year, the Sheriff makes $200K/year off the red-light camera- you think you might ask them for some ideas? Wake up people.

Yep. We have slackers in the City Council and slackers in the Sheriffs dept. But that is typical 'as-usual' civic work stuff. All us muppets can do is move out when the political correctness destroys our city. West Covina is all through parts of Walnut. Ever look at the crime rate there. Murders, rapes, assaults. But that is OK. Poor folks do not have a lot of money so what do you expect? I expect these folks to straighten out and get their acts together. Single moms? Well why did you marry morons. Well why did you have kids with morons. You being stupid should not endanger my family and destroy my schools and property values. Watch white flight from Walnut to the central Calif coast. What Walnut used to be in the 60's.

Good point.. I do remember when Covina, West Covina, Diamond Bar were beautiful cities. The envy of Los Angeles. They have mostly gone downhill. DB has more home robberies now. Never had before. The other cities have been poorly managed.. Covina loaded with Apts. People moving out of those cities in droves. Lets hope Walnut does not go that route. Might be starting though.

Mr. West, Did you stop and think that the deputy from the Sheriff's Department was doing exactly as you are demanding? By engaging the people that come to Walnut to commit crimes, the Sheriff's department is working to keep the community safer. You can't even compare a deputy defending you and the other citizens of Walnut to a stabbing in the park. How does that logic even compute? On one hand you have a crime committed by a thug. The other involves one of the people you rely on to keep you safe while you sleep. The deputy contacted the bad guys you fear and then defended himself against the attack that he was possibly keeping you from. How about being even the slightest bit grateful.
