Police say a woman, not immediately identified, in her 60s was struck by a vehicle Sunday.

Authorities report a woman was fatally struck by a vehicle early Sunday on Forest Lawn Drive next to the famed cemetery in the Hollywood Hills.

The accident was reported in the 6000 block of Forest Lawn Drive and South Greenwood Way. Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics declared the woman dead at the scene about midnight, according to LAFD spokesman Matt Spence.

Los Angeles police Officer Melissa Lesenby of the Central Traffic Division said the fatally injured woman was in her 60s, but declined to make her name public until relatives were notified about her death.

"She was hit and dragged," Lisenby said. "We're checking to see if she was down already when the drivers, who stayed, hit her, and if there was a hit-and-run first."

The accident happened along a stretch of the road where there are no crosswalks.
