A man who apparently jumped out of a vehicle while it was moving on the Hollywood (170) Freeway, then was run over by a van, was identified Saturday night as a 38-year-old North Hollywood man.
Carlos Sanchez was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident, which was reported about 4:15 p.m. on the southbound side, north of the Ventura (134) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Sanchez was in the right front passenger seat of the 2003 Toyota, driven by Sara Burton, 37, of Los Angeles, CHP Officer Monica Posada told Patch.
The incident was under investigation, including why Sanchez got out of a moving vehicle.
He hit the road and ended up in a far left lane of SR-170, directly into the path of the van, driven by Reyna Ortega,'' Posada told Patch.
Ortega could not stop in time, the CHP reported.
A SigAlert was ordered for the far left lane at the 134 for three hours, Posada said.

It happened about 4:15 p.m. on the southbound 101 at Vineland Avenue, CHP Officer Tatiana Sauquillo said.
A SigAlert was ordered for the farthest left lane -- just before the carpool lane -- for a time, Sauquillo said. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
