Police Seek Suspect in Gang-Related Shooting Death at Hollywood Party

Officials are asking for information from the public about the shooting on North La Brea Avenue early Sunday.

Police are investigating a gang-related shooting that left a 22-year-old man dead and another person wounded at a party in Hollywood early Sunday morning.

Lorenzo Smith, a Los Angeles resident, was shot on the 1600 block of  North La Brea Avenue around 3:10 a.m., said Officer Catherine Massey of the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood station.

Preliminary reports indicate that Smith argued with a man at the party and the man pulled out a handgun and shot him, said Officer Cleon Joseph, an LAPD spokesman.

Officers found Smith with at least one shotgun wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Joseph said.

Paramedics rushed another person with non-life-threatening wounds to a hospital, Joseph said.
