Man Jumps in Front of Train in Hollywood, Survives

Authorities believe it was a suicide attempt.

A man jumped in front of a Metro Red Line train at the Hollywood/Western Station tonight in what authorities said was a suicide attempt.

Surveillance cameras from the station showed the man standing on the platform and looking both ways before jumping in front of the train, which was bound for Union Station, said Lt. Mike Mendoza of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Transit Services Bureau.

The man was hospitalized. The extent of his injuries was not known, according to Mendoza.
