Man Pleads Not Guilty in Arson Case at Hollywood Synagogue

Dmitriy Sheyko is charged Wednesday with 19 felony counts including arson, burglary and use of a destructive device, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office announces.

Dmitriy Sheyko pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Wednesday afternoon. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 2. His bail has been set at $3 million.

A 21-year-old man accused of setting fires at a Hollywood synagogue and at homes in Beverly Hills was charged Wednesday with 19 felony counts.

Dmitriy Sheyko is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Los Angeles County Superior Court on charges including arson, use of a destructive device and burglary, according to the L.A County District Attorney’s office. If convicted, he could be sentenced to up to 21 years in prison.

Sheyko is accused of setting a fire inside a classroom at Temple Israel of Hollywood and at homes on Beverly Ridge Terrace in Beverly Hills, according to the district attorney’s office. In some cases he allegedly used Molotov cocktails.

Sheyko was arrested Monday by police assigned to the West Los Angeles Station, according to the sheriff's website.
