Man Arrested for Hollywood Stabbing Monday Remains Behind Bars

Julio Caesar Velasquez was jailed in lieu of $1 million bail.

A 22-year-old man remained behind bars on suspicion of murder Tuesday for allegedly stabbing a man outside a hotel near the Hollywood Bowl.

Julio Caesar Velasquez was arrested about a block away from the Best Western Hollywood Plaza in the 2000 block of North Highland Avenue shortly after the roughly 6:30 a.m. Monday stabbing, police said. He was jailed in lieu of $1 million bail.

Officers who responded to the hotel found a 29-year-old man suffering from stab wounds, police said. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses helped lead officers to Velasquez, who allegedly was involved in an argument with the victim that led to the stabbing in front of the hotel, police said.

The victim's name had not yet been released.
