Late-Night Freeway Pursuit Begins in Hollywood

Police take car theft suspects into custody late Monday in the Valley.

Two car theft suspects were in custody Tuesday after leading police on a chase from Hollywood to the San Fernando Valley on the Hollywood (101) Freeway.

Gang unit officers around Vermont and Fountain avenues observed a suspicious vehicle at about 10:55 p.m. Monday that turned out to be stolen and a chase started, said Sgt. Wayne Guillary of the Los Angeles Police Department's Northeast Station.

The chase went on the northbound portion of the freeway, then the southbound. The man and woman in the car were taken into custody on the southbound portion of the freeway, around Moorpark Street, at 11:11 p.m., Guillary said.
