Los Angeles Lakers reserve forward Devin Ebanks was arrested in Hollywood early Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence, authorities said.
Ebanks, 23, was taken into custody shortly before 3 a.m. after being stopped for a traffic violation at Hollywood Boulevard and El Centro Avenue, said California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Harris.
"A DUI investigation was conducted, and he was arrested,'' Harris said.
Ebanks was booked about 3:45 a.m. on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Harris said. He was released about 6:45 a.m. after posting $5,000 bail, the sheriff's department reported.
The team issued a statement saying it is "aware of the situation with
Devin and are currently looking into the matter to gather all the facts."
The 6-foot-8 second-year former West Virginia standout was not in uniform for Friday night's game against the Golden State Warriors
at Staples Center.
