Man Impales Leg While Seeking View in Hills

The unidentified man is taken to the hospital early Friday with stable vital signs.

An intoxicated man who said he climbed the wall of a high-end house in a posh Hollywood Hills neighborhood to get a view of the city lights ended up impaled on a wrought iron fence early Friday, suffering a leg wound.

The man's right leg—in the thigh area, according to a news photographer at the scene—was skewered on a tall section of the fence at 1236 N. Sierra Alta Way, according to Cecil Manresa of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The man, who is around 25, was rescued by firefighters dispatched to the scene at 12:14 a.m. and taken to a hospital, Manresa said, adding his vital signs were stable.

The property where the incident occurred is located just above the Sunset Strip.

Firefighters cut off a section of the fence, which sat atop a masonry wall near the entry gate of the property, and transported the man with the piece of wrought iron still attached to his leg, a photographer reported.

The man had been drinking and said he was trying to get a view of the city, an officer at the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station reported.

The man had no business in the neighborhood, the officer said, adding that it was not immediately determined if he will be charged with trespassing or any other crime.
