Injured Hiker Rescued in Franklin Canyon

A 56-year-old woman twisted an ankle in Hollywood's Franklin Canyon this morning and was taken to Cedar-Sinai Medical Center to be checked out.

Several fire department engine companies were dispatched to the popular hiking area -- it was where the opening sequence of The Andy Griffith Show was filmed -- about 10:15 a.m. and reached the woman via a fire road from Beverly Ridge Estates, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.

A ground crew took the woman to the hospital.
