Hollywood Barricade Ends With Two Arrested

From City News Service

Two people were taken into custody tonight in East Hollywood following a nearly six-hour standoff with a SWAT team that was triggered by reports of a stabbing.

A radio call about an assault with a deadly weapon suspect in the 1200 block of North Vermont Avenue, near Fountain Avenue, came in at 1:15 p.m., said Lt. Andrew Mathes of LAPD's Northeast Division.

The occupants of the apartment barricaded themselves for hours as SWAT officers stood by outside, Mathes said.

Around 7 p.m., two people exited the building and were hospitalized for unknown injuries, according to Mathes.

They were arrested for suspicion of resisting officers' orders to come out of the apartment, Mathes said.

Mathes said it is unclear if either of the people taken into custody were connected to a stabbing and detectives were still conducting their investigation.
