Former Queens of the Stone Age Rocker Arrested on Suspicion of Domestic Violence

Police say Nick Oliveri, 39, faces possible felony charges after he barricaded himself and held his girlfriend hostage in a standoff with LAPD's SWAT team at his East Hollywood residence Tuesday night.

A former member of the band Queens of the Stone Age faced a possible felony domestic violence charge today after barricading himself in his residence and holding his girlfriend hostage, authorities said.

Nick Oliveri, 39, was booked shortly after 3 a.m. at the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station on suspicion of felony domestic violence, said LAPD Officer Norma Eisenman of the Media Relations office.

He was released about three hours later on $100,000 bail, the sheriff's department reported. No court date was set.

The barricade in the 900 block of North Hobart Boulevard began about 5:35 p.m. Tuesday, the LAPD reported. According to police, the woman allegedly had injured her arm during a domestic dispute with Oliveri on Monday, and officers went to the residence that day, but he wasn't there.

The woman told police he was armed with a gun, according to the LAPD.

Police summoned a SWAT team to the location, and a standoff ensued. The woman came out of the residence at 8:25 p.m., and Oliveri surrendered about two hours later, police said.

Authorities searched the home and found a weapon, Eisenman said.
