Firefighters Extinguish Hollywood House Fire Monday
Authorities report a car fire in the backyard of a house spreads to the attic.
Two people suffered minor injuries when a fire broke out in a car and then spread to a home Monday morning in Hollywood, authorities said.
Firefighters responded at 10:38 a.m. to an original report of a car fire in the backyard of a house on the 1700 block of North Van Ness Ave., according to Shawn Lenske of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
"Upon arriving, we noticed the house was on fire, so we upgraded it," Lenske said.

The fire spread from the car to the back of the house and eventually to the attic, according to Lenske. Two adults suffered minor injuries, but it was unclear whether they lived on the property.
About 77 firefighters put out the fire in 43 minutes, he said.

Firefighters at the scene said they worked to prevent several antique vehciels that were parked under plastic tarps in the yard. Solar energy devices on the roof also complicated matters.
The cause of the fire was under investigation, according to Lenske.
