Firefighters Battle Flames in Hollywood Hills

Lack of water and narrow access roads prolonged the effort, an official says.

Narrow access roads and a lack of water slowed firefighters' attempts to extinguish a small brush fire in the Hollywood Hills early today.

The fire was reported on the hillside below the Griffith Park Observatory around 2:30 a.m., Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott said.

While small at a quarter of an acre, the fire took 44 firefighters 67 minutes to knock down, Scott said.
