Fight Breaks Out Among Halloween Revelers

Man taken to hospital in critical condition following early-morning brawl on Hollywood Boulevard.

Halloween revelry on Hollywood Boulevard erupted into a brawl early Sunday that left a 27-year-old man unconscious and in critical condition, Los Angeles police reported.

The fight, involving an estimated 100 people, occurred near Wilcox Avenue at about 1:30 a.m., police Sgt. Mark Ro of the Hollywood Station said.

The man, whose name was unavailable, was reportedly kicked in the head until he lost consciousness, Ro said. Paramedics treating the man at the scene called for police backup, he said. The man was taken to a hospital in critical condition, he said.

Getting a descripton of the attacker wasn't easy, Ro said, because "everybody was in costume." He added: "Friends of the victim were not cooperative.''

Officers were questioning witnesses not involved in the fight, he said.
