Los Angeles police will set up checkpoints and conduct beefed up patrols in an effort to control drinking and driving during the Cinco de Mayo holiday weekend.
Checkpoints will also be set up from 8 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday at Vermont and Melrose avenues in East Hollywood, police said.
On Saturday, six-hour checkpoints will be manned beginning at 8 p.m. at Cahuenga Boulevard and Broadlawn Drive and at Laurel Canyon Boulevard and Oxnard Street in North Hollywood, police said.
Driving under the influence saturation patrols will also be conducted in various parts of the city throughout the day on Monday, police said.
