Annual "10-4" Parade to Take Place on Friday
Celebrities and politicians are scheduled to participate.

The annual 10-4 Day Parade, a salute to public safety officers featuring vintage police cars, will be held today in Hollywood.
The parade will begin at 1 p.m. at the Los Angeles Fire Department Museum at 1327 N. Cahuenga Blvd. and arrive at 1:15 p.m. at the Walk of Fame star of Broderick Crawford at 6901 Hollywood Blvd., where a ceremony will be held.
Scheduled to take part in the parade are Larry Wilcox and other cast members of the 1977-83 NBC series "CHiPS,'' Paul Linke and Lou Wagner; Fred Dryer, star of the 1984-91 NBC police drama "Hunter''; Paul Michael Glaser, Starsky from the 1975-79 ABC police drama "Starsky and Hutch''; Councilman Tom LaBonge; KRTH-FM (101.1) disc jockey Shotgun Tom Kelly; and leaders of the California Highway Patrol, Los Angeles Police Department and Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.
"This is a great opportunity to recognize our public safety officers and all they do to protect and serve,'' LaBonge said.
The ceremony is being held at Crawford's star because of his starring role in the 1955-1959 syndicated television series "Highway Patrol.'' Parade organizer Gary Goltz bills himself as the series' No. 1 fan and owns a 1955 CHP Buick like the one used on "Highway Patrol.''
The parade is being held today because its date on the calendar, 10-4, corresponds with the law enforcement radio code for message understood.
