Directed by Michael Bay, Transformers: Age of Extinction introduces a brand-new trilogy of the metallic superheroes. If the original 2007-2011 theatrical releases were box-office hits for showcasing magnificent realism on computer graphics imageries, Age of Extinction is certainly aiming to make this new take the grandest of them all to date.

Oscar nominated actor Mark Wahlberg (The Departed) stars as the A.I. inventor and widower Cade Yeager. Also starring are Nicola Peltz (Bates Motel,The Last Airbender) as Yeager’s daughter, Tessa, and Jack Reynor ( Delivery Man) as Tessa’s boyfriend and race-car driver Shane.

Yeager discovers a truck at a dilapidated Texas movie theater. Amid the restoration process, this vehicle reveals its identity as a transformer – the best of the autobots, Optimus Prime (voiced by Peter Cullen). What ensues next is the bonding of Yeager and Prime; the argy-bargy relationship between father and daughter; the blossoming young love between Tess and Jack; the machismo exchange between Yaeger and Shane; and the fights between the autobots and man-made transformers.

Big fights, indeed! Audience will be amazed at the picture-perfect images and actions of these robots. Transformers: Age of Extinction is not so much about story lines. Rather, it is more on that stunning delivery of its high-octane action sequences in the BIG screen – a sure visual feast to enjoy!

About this column: Beau Behan’s claim to fame is that his last name being the same as that of the Irish novelist, Brendan Behan. He sees himself as a romantic Rudolph Valentino type, but realizes you probably don’t. As a film critic, his work has been featured in NBC Bay Area, NBC News and Boston Globe, and can be seen on the TV show, “Beau’s Flicks & Nix”, on the Comcast Hometown Network. A “Flick” is a movie, and a “Nix” is just an opinion, nothing more. (BeauBehan.com)
