Wind Damage: The Buzz at Runyon Canyon Park
Locals share what they saw during their morning routines.
People out and about Thursday morning, particularly in Runyon Canyon Park, shared with Hollywood Patch their experiences getting around town after the high winds from the night before.
Steve Gabriel, who was preparing to sell his vintage book clocks at one of the entrances to Runyon Canyon, said he ran into heavy traffic on the way to the park and was surprised by the damage he saw.
"I saw a tree on Fairfax stripped so much, the wind literally peeled every layer off that tree," Gabriel said. "Driving through, it was like a hurricane hit or the closest thing for us—not that we have anything like that."

"Just the lights out," she said. "All of the plants flew off our balcony."
Hollywood resident Barbara Adams noticed that "a tree fell on top of someone's car overnight," she said.
So let that serve as a cautionary note: With high winds forecast into Friday, be careful where you park your car.
