Vote Postponed on Funding of Hollywood Gateway Sign

Lack of a quorum at a Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council committee meeting cancelled the vote.

The Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council's  put off a to decide whether to support giving $4,000 to fund the replacement of a letter on the Hollywood Gateway sign.

There was not a quorum present in order to be able to take a vote, said Merle Singer, president of the . 

The coalition was requesting the money for the sign that is located in the traffic triangle at Wilcox Avenue, Franklin Avenue, and Cahuenga Boulevard.

The group also wants to light the sign, which they plan to do by early 2012. About $1,000 was raised earlier this month in a fundraiser to help pay for the project.

Four letters on the sign actually need to be replaced adding up to a total of $16,000, Singer said. The coalition plans to appeal to other area neighborhood associations for funding.

Friday's scheduled vote was rescheduled for the next meeting of the Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council's Environment, Preservation Committee in January.
