Hollywood Man Fatally Shot While at Work

Detectives Sunday sought a gunman who killed a 38- year-old cook at a Sherman Oaks restaurant.

Raul Lopez of Hollywood was fatally shot in the chest outside Hoagies & Wings at 14522 Ventura Blvd. about 11:10 p.m. Friday by a skinny, roughly 5- foot-6-inch black man in his 20s, who fled in a black or dark-colored SUV, perhaps a Cadillac Escalade, that was parked near Vesper Avenue, Los Angeles police assigned to the Van Nuys Station said.

A group of about five rowdy young men came into the restaurant, and Lopez picked up a chair as he tried to shoo them out, police said. That prompted the gunman to open fire on Lopez, described by patrons as the father of five.
