Guide: Mini Road trip to San Diego from LA

A few things that should convince even the least-interested traveler to go to San Diego

Want to get away? Why take a flight when San Diego is just two hours away! If you’re tired of the gridlock in Santa Monica or the fulled-up lots in West Hollywood, a drive to San Diego will make things quite exciting and liberating. There are many things to do in San Diego. From Ocean Beach to Gaslamp, the adventure can start just about anywhere. Here are some of the best places to go to enjoy San Diego.

Interstate 5 viewpoint - About 45 minutes before you arrive to San Diego, there will be a beautiful area to stop on your way down to SD. The viewpoint provides a stunning 180-degree look at the Pacific Ocean. It’s a spectacular view just before you get into real payoff. Ocean Beach - Whether it’s Ocean Beach, Sunset Cliffs, or La Jolla Cove, there’s plenty of beach area that will quickly make you forget about the Santa Monica Pier. La Jolla Beach is popular for photographers and kayakers. Ocean Beach, on the other hand, has plenty of restaurants that serve delicious food.

Qualcomm Stadium - Other than hosting football games every Sunday, Qualcomm stadium also hosts plenty of other events in and around the stadium. You’ll also find plenty of great shops and restaurants in the area to keep you busy.

Gaslamp Quarter - Here’s where San Diego truly shows its colors. The historic Gaslamp Quarters is host to plenty of bars, nightclubs, and lounges that make any night a great night. Even the San Diego parking is a lot easier to measure.

Chula Vista/National City - They’re not the greatest tourist spots, but each city has its own unique thing to offer to anybody visiting San Diego.

There are ample things to do in San Diego. Petco Park is in downtown and offers a great time on any summer day. The San Diego Convention Center hosts plenty of attractions throughout the year including Comic-Con. And, hey, if you’re still not convinced, Tijuana is always just a short drive from San Diego.
