Eat a High Amount of Carbs for Weight Loss!

One of the most common misconceptions that have been perpetuated from these low carbers is the idea that carbs will cause you to gain weight. The problems is they bulk all carbs into one umbrella.

The fat you eat is the fat you wear.  This means that fat/sugar combos like cakes and cookies (which are also seen as carbs) is what causes weight gain.  It's the fat that's the problem.

You can eat potatoes, pasta, rice grains and beans until you're satisfied and you'll lose weight if you're overweight.  Once your body reaches its ideal weight you won't keep losing weight so don't worry about thinning down too much!

In the 1980's the dietary guidelines for fat in the diet was 30%. But in the following decade the total amount of calorie consumption increased and so did the fat intake and this resulted in increase in obesity rates.  Atkins came in and put the blame on the high amount of carbs people were eating and created his high fat, high protein, low carb plan.

All carbs were bulked together to include the sugary refined carbs along with whole plant based foods which are naturally low in fat and high in carbs.

Carbs aren't the problem. Obesity increases as physical activity decreases and as sugary, fatty, salty processed food consumption increases.

The ideal ratio is 80/10/10 which means 80% of your calories come from carbohydrates, 10% come from fats and 10% come from protein.

Your diet should be varied with plenty of vegetables, fruits, legumes, and carbs in the form of potatoes, yams, grains, rice etc. and  whole wheat pastas.
