New Economist Paul Glover on Rebuilding Main Street with Local Currency

Arroyo S.E.C.O Network of Time Banks is proud to present:
“The Story of Ithaca HOURS” with Paul Glover

Los Angeles, CA – On Sunday, October 6, the Arroyo S.E.C.O Network of Time Banks hosts New Economy pioneer Paul Glover in a presentation on how local neighborhoods can organize and empower themselves by literally printing their own money.

Over 20 years ago, Glover saw that his town of Ithaca, NY was in need of some serious economic stimulus, so he started printing his own money. Today this local currency is still circulating among the small businesses and local residents, promoting local economic strength and community self-reliance by keeping the wealth within the community.

“Ithaca HOURS” is one of the most successful and longest running local currencies in the country. "The world is coming to a beginning rather than an end,” says Glover, “We have the knowledge, tools, creativity, and capital to proceed. Our challenge is merely to begin where we live, with whatever capabilities are at hand."
