It's opening night of the 12th Annual Los Angeles Improv Comedy Festival, and what a better way to kick it off then with THE LAMPSHADES! The Lampshades are a fake lounge act starring iO alums Kate Flannery ("The Office") and Scot Robinson. They play the first Saturday of every month, but they used to play almost every Saturday night in Hollywood for over 5 years, sometimes to rooms barely half-full (like the real off-the-strip lounge act they pay tribute to). The two Lampshades work the scotch-soaked, mascara-running piano medley to fine, sleazy effect. No matter how many bands you’ve seen, you have never heard “Mandy” meets “Brandy” with The Andy Griffith Show theme song and “Candy Man” thrown in for bad measure. Special Guests for the festival will include Jerry Miner ("Saturday Night Live") and Missi Pyle ("The Artist", "Galaxy Quest").

The 12TH ANNUAL LOS ANGELES IMPROV COMEDY FESTIVAL is being held June 1st-7th. The weeklong event will feature a plethora of shows simultaneously on three stages, offer informative workshops and, as always, boast an amazing roster of celebrity headliners. Along with these competitions: Sketch Cage Match, Harold, Standup, One for the Money and Two for the Money. A portion of the festival proceeds will benefit The Chris Farley House, a state-certified residential treatment program for recovering men and women.
