INTRO-RETRO SPECTIVE; CLASSIC & NEW DOCS OVER THANKSGIVING

It's a very special week at Arena Cinema Hollywood,
LA's newest art house movie theatre,
as the venue unspools "Intro-Retro Spective"
a programming of new and re-issued documentaries with intricate correlations.

Screening schedule for November 29 through December 5:

           "Wild Style." Fri. & Sat. at 6:50 p.m. Sun. at 4:30 p.m.

A document of the earliest days of hip-hop in the boroughs of
New York, everything in Wild Style is authentic - the story, style,
characters, and most of the actors, are drawn from the community. It
features a pantheon of old-school pioneers, including Grandmaster Flash,
Busy Bee, The Cold Crush Brothers and more.

           "Downtown 81." Fri. & Sat. at 8:15 p.m. Sun. at 3:15 p.m.

Starring the legendary American painter, graffiti artist, poet and
and musician Jean-Michel Basquiat (1960-1988), Downtown 81 is both a post-modernist fairytale
and a vivid depiction of the downtown New York art and music scene in the early 1980s.

"The Pervert's Guide to Ideology." Fri. & Sat. at 9:30 p.m. Sun. at 8:00 p.m.

Wed. at 9:15 p.m. Thurs. at 6:50 p.m.

Follow-up
to the 2006 documentary "The Pervert's Guide to Cinema" sees the
reunion of brilliant philosopher Slavoj Zizek with filmmaker Sophie
Fiennes, now using their inventive interpretation of moving pictures to
examine ideology - the collective fantasies that shape our beliefs and
practices.

"Let The Fire Burn." Saturday at 5:00 p.m.

This dramatic tragedy unfolds through an extraordinary visual record
previously withheld from the public. It is a graphic illustration of how
prejudice,  intolerance and fear can lead to unthinkable acts of
violence.

"The Act of Killing." Fri. at 4:55 p.m., Sun. at 6:00 p.m.

Wed. at 7:15 p.m.,

Thurs. at 9:00 p.m.

A documentary that challenges former Indonesian death squad leaders to
reenact their real-life mass-killings in whichever cinematic genres
they wish, including classic Hollywood crime scenarios and lavish
musical numbers.

"A bombshell...Pic will stir controversy wherever it travels."---Variety
