Hidden Stories Conference “Folding Back the Layers of Latino/a History”

The 2013 Hidden Stories conference will explore Latino history in the context of California’s state parks. Many state parks ably include interpretation of the contributions of historical Latino figures and the context of the time and place. This conference seeks to go beyond existing interpretation to look at “the stories beneath the stories” of this extremely important historical group.

The Conference will showcase panel discussion and Q&A in three main areas, with presentations from several distinguished speakers.

A celebratory dinner, featuring Ric Salinas of Culture Clash, will be held Wednesday night, at LA Plaza de Cultura y Artes museum, which tells the story of Mexican Americans in Los Angeles. Gustavo Herrera, the museum’s CEO, will be among the speakers, and guests will be offered tours of this striking museum, named “Best New Mexican American Heritage Museum” by LA Weekly in 2012. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy drinks and a delicious dinner in a striking outdoor setting.
