Wind Advisory Issued for Hollywood Hills

Strong winds may displace objects and cause tree limbs to break, warns the National Weather Service.

A wind advisory is in effect for the Hollywood Hills through 3 p.m.

The National Weather Service's forecast warns of strong northeast winds that will persist through early afternoon. Wind speeds will range from 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

Strong winds will affect areas below the passes and canyons stretching from Leo Carrillo to the Hollywood Hills, according to the advisory.

The winds may cause tree limbs to break and may displace unsecured objects. Use extra caution if you drive a high profile vehicle.

At dawn, gusts of 62 miles per hour were clocked at a ranger station near Mount Wilson. The California Highway Patrol issued high wind warnings for Newhall Pass and the northern San Fernando Valley, where 54 mph gusts were measured at sunrise.
