Weekend Planner: 'E.T.' Movie Night, Used Book Sale, and a Bluegrass Concert

1. Visit Italy Through Stories

2. Used Book Sale

Where/When: , 4591 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles. Saturday Sept. 24 at 11 a.m.

Why go: The Cahuenga Branch Library is hosting a used book sale for patrons to browse and find great books at bargain prices.

Price: Free  

3. Screening of “E.T.”

Where/When: Hollywood Forever Cemetery, 6000 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles. Saturday Sept. 24. Gates open at 6:30 p.m., movie starts at 8 p.m.

Why go: Come to the Hollywood Forever Cemetery for the screening of Spielberg’s classic "E.T.," starring Henry Thomas and Drew Barrymore. Enjoy live music by DJ Cut Chemist, who will spin before and after the screening. Make sure to bring blankets, drinks and your own picnic dinner.

Price: $10

4. Gold Rush at the Autry

Where/ When: The Autry, 4700 Western Heritage Way, Los Angeles. Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 24 and 25, at 11 a.m.

Why go: Bring the whole family to the Autry in Griffith Park for a fun family day discovering the myths and realities of the California Gold Rush. The event features an outdoor re-creation of a miner's panning station for visitors to try their hand at panning for gold.

Price: Free with museum admission.

5. Bluegrass Music at the Ford

Where/When: Ford Amphitheatre, 2580 Cahuenga Blvd East, Los Angeles. Sunday Sept. 25 at 7 p.m.

Why go: Experience something new with a great bluegrass concert at the Ford Amphitheatre, presented by the Bluegrass Association of Southern California. Enjoy bluegrass music by Michael Cleveland and Flamekeeper, plus the L.A. band Loafer’s Glory.
