Hollywood Patch is much more than a local news website.

Part of our mission includes empowering our readers to get involved within the community. I thought I'd take a moment to round up the top ways you can help make the most of your experience using Hollywood Patch each day.

In no particular order:

Find out what's happening in Hollywoodwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

Subscribe to our daily newsletter. It’s delivered early each morning to your inbox with the day’s top stories, blogs, announcements and events in Hollywood. You'll learn about road closures, new restaurants, things to do around town and much more.

Connect with us on social media. Hollywood Patch is on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Get on-the-go updates from your editor who is always out and about town. I'll point you to people, groups and businesses who are active on these outlets. You’ll also be among the first to know when a new post is published.

Join the site. You’ll need a user account to access the website features that makes Hollywood Patch an interactive hub for the community.

Comment. Share your ideas and insight in the comment section of each story. A respectful community dialogue can only make Hollywood a better place to live. It doesn't hurt if you want throw in a little humor, too! I've heard of one reader who comments in the form of haiku on a neighboring Patch site.

Post announcements and events. Get the word out about neighborhood happenings, meetings, lost or found pets. It’s also a great way for public relations folks to get their information directly on the site, which will be considered for publication by a Patch editor.

Are you a shutterbug with your cell phone or digital camera? Show off your photos by posting them to our Neighborhood Gallery.

Own or manage a business in town? Chances are it’s in our directory. Claiming your free business listing will allow you to take charge of how your shop is presented to Patch readers.

Find yourself passionate about a particular topic? Whether you’re a local activist following the highly-debated Hollywood Community Plan or a Hollywood foodie, .
