Tom Cruise's New Gig, 'Ghostbusters' Go BYOB and Maybe Prince William

A proposed bike share program, Alec Baldwin and "Cops!" producer getting stars and at least one unsubstantiated rumor can be found in this week's neighborhood news roundup.

Maverick Has Been Goosed

Has anyone else noticed the Tom Cruise doppleganger standing outside of Mann's Chinese Theatre, decked out in a Maverick-approved flight suit, occasionally flashing his pearly whites to draw in tourists? It's amazing that the guy with the least amount of makeup, and no mask, is the one who looks the most uncanny.

A local Hollywood tour guide told Patch that a group of recent passengers were "Secret Service agents" in town, scoping out Hollywood for an upcoming visit by Prince William. We can't find any confirmation, or even speculation, that the groom-to-be will be paying us a visit, but found this to be an interesting bit of gossip nonetheless. A bike share program could be coming soon to Hollywood: Blogdowntown points out that steps are being taken to decide how to best spend "an $8.35 million grant to develop 'Integrated Mobility Hubs.' " Hollywood, downtown L.A. and Long Beach are the three intended locations for the hubs, which would also include bicycle parking and a car sharing program as part of the plan.

Ray, if Someone Asks if You Want a Beer, You Say, 'Yes!'

The Next Stage Theatre (1523 N. LaBrea) is hosting a live reading/audience drink-a-long of Ghostbusters. The small venue isn't licensed to sell alcohol, but a $15 ticket includes a complimentary beer. Designated drivers and everyone else can snag a $10 ticket. Hint: The theater is upstairs from Mashti Malones ice cream and a liquor store, and it encourages you to BYOB.

Film nerds take note: One door down from the Next Stage is the Tre Stage Theatre, which just kicked off the first of four Thursday night performances of a live adaptation of Kevin Smith's Clerks. Tickets are $15, and it also encourages to BYOB. Are you noticing a trend?

Centerstage Moms

Lindsay Kavet, director/producer of the national show Expressing Motherhood, is accepting submissions through Tuesday for any mom who'd like to share her experience in front of a live audience. In addition to monologues, the production is open to "skits, song, dance" and more. The shows will be performed April 27 through May 7 on a Hollywood stage.

Star Watch!

Comedian Paul Rodriguez and K-Earth 101 morning personality Gary Bryan will help present John Langley, creator/producer of Cops! with his Walk of Fame star at 4 p.m. today in front of Musso & Frank.

On Monday at 11:30 a.m., Alec Baldwin will be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 6352 Hollywood Blvd., east of Cherokee Avenue. Actors Megan Mullally and Billy Baldwin will be on hand to roast the 30 Rock star.
