Spending Memorial Day Weekend in Hollywood?

Wondering what to do this Memorial Day weekend in Hollywood?

Consider playing tourist in your own backyard. It's the last weekend in May to take advantage of  "Half Off Hollywood." Take 50 percent off general admission and rates for children and seniors when visiting local attractions. Ask for the "Half Off Hollywood" discount. Be sure to bring proof of residency. Attractions include the Guiness World Records Museum, the , the , LA City Tours, , and Starline Tours.

Catch Hitchcock classics at the  on Friday. The theater is featuring a double feature of Psycho and The Birds at 7:30 p.m. General admission tickets are $11.

Spend an afternoon at the in Hollywood. On display are fire engines and firefighting tools that are nearly 100 years old. Bring the kids or the firefighting enthusiast in your life to the museum and hear firsthand accounts of what it's like to battle blazes. The museum is at 1355 N. Caheunga Blvd. It's open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Have you visited the recently? The market is a certified open-air street market with approximately 100 farmers, 30 local artisans and 40 baked-goods and prepared-food vendors who sell their products every Sunday. Rain or shine, it is open every Sunday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  It is at the intersection of Ivar and Selma avenues, between Sunset and Hollywood boulevards.

Honor the men and women serving in the military at Forest Lawn's Memorial Day ceremony with Councilman Tom LaBonge delivering the keynote speech and KNBC-TV's Fritz Coleman serving as the master of ceremonies. Forest Lawn Cemetery is at 6300 Forest Lawn Drive. The event begins at 10 a.m. on Monday.
