Showers, Strong Winds to Continue in Southland Tuesday
An uptick in temperatures is expected starting Friday.
A late-season storm brought the Southland more showers and strong winds Tuesday and, for the second consecutive day, a wet morning commute.
Tuesday's rains, which are expected to quickly vanish by the afternoon, are being generated by an upper-level low-pressure system that had been parked off the Central Coast and began sliding into the Southland Monday night, National Weather Service forecasters said.
"Expect wet and slick roadways for the morning commute...," warned an NWS advisory.

Because of the showery nature of the storm, rainfall totals will vary around the region, forecasters said, adding that between a tenth and a quarter of an inch may fall in Los Angeles and Ventura counties Tuesday.
A rainfall record for May 6 was set Monday in Long Beach, where .38 inches of rain was recorded at the airport, breaking the record of .14 inches set in 1994, according to the NWS.

Forecasters warned of a slight chance of thunderstorms Tuesday and said any that develops could produce brief but heavy downpours. Snow will not be a concern Tuesday, although a dusting is possible above 7,000 feet, they said.
The strongest winds, meanwhile, will blow in the San Gabriel Mountains in L.A. and Ventura counties and the Antelope Valley, according to an NWS advisory.
The NWS forecast highs Tuesday of 47 on Mount Wilson; 66 in Newport Beach, Palmdale and at LAX; 67 in San Gabriel, Saugus, Lancaster and Avalon; 68 in Anaheim, Long Beach, Pasadena and downtown Los Angeles; 69 in Burbank; and 70 in Woodland Hills. An uptick in temperatures is expected starting Friday.
