Millennium Hollywood Project Will Be Bike-Friendly, Developers Say

A series of bike-friendly events is planned at the site, starting with a bike-in movie night in May.

A project that includes plans to build two 55-story skyscrapers in Hollywood near the 13-story Capitol Records Building will be "the most bike-friendly development in Los Angeles," developers said.

A series of bike-friendly events is planned at the Millennium Hollywood project site, starting with a bike-in movie night in May.

"We are serious when we say one of the primary goals of Millennium Hollywood is to get people out of their cars and onto the street," said Philip Aarons, founding partner of Millennium Partners, the lead developer of the proposed project, in a statement. "This will be the most bike-friendly development in Los Angeles, and our commitment to that starts now, long before the first shovel is put in the ground."

In addition to the installation of bicycle racks at the site, plans include a bike center with repair and bike rental facilities, as well as bike parking.

"Millennium Hollywood will do anything and everything it can to encourage biking. Our commitment to this is unwavering," Aarons said.

The city Planning Commission recently approved the large-scale project being proposed by New York-based developer Millennium Partners, though it still needs council approval.

Proposed plans for the project include almost 500 residential units and 200 luxury hotel rooms, as well as office space, restaurants and a fitness club.

Some community members recently started a petition opposing the Millennium Hollywood project's size.

The bike-in movie night will be held at 7:30 p.m. May 7 in the parking lot at 1749 North Vine St. Admission to the screening of "The Big Lebowski" is free. RSVP here.
