Proposed rate hike: The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is considering a plan to increase utility rates at least 15 percent over the next three years, reports KPCC. The minimum rate hike in the first year would add about $2.25 to an average household monthly water bill and $4 a month to the energy bill. Officials say the increase will cover replacing water pipes, electric wires and some existing expenses. The increase would also help pay to protect the utility's credit rating, which helps DWP borrow to meet mandates. In the upcoming weeks DWP will host public meetings around the region to explain its priorities and its pricing for power and water.

Anniversary celebration: Hard Rock on Wheels stops by the cafe's location today.  The stop is part of the cafe's 40th anniversary celebration that is bringing historic and iconic music memorabilia pieces on tour across the country in an outfitted big rig truck.
