Hollywood Today: Wind Advisory Issued for Hollywood Hills

Also: It's '80s night at the Egyptian Theatre, and 'Pulp Shakespeare' returns to Theatre Asylum.

A wind advisory issued by the National Weather Service is in effect for the Los Angeles area through 3 p.m. Friday. Winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 35 mph were expected through the afternoon. Some isolated gusts up to 40 mph are possible. Winds will be strongest below passes from Malibu to the Hollywood Hills.

Use caution driving high-profile vehicles through the hills.

  • Take a trip back to the "Super '80s" for the 25th anniversary double-feature screening of The Monster Squad and The Gate. Fred Dekker, director of The Monster Squad, is scheduled to speak between films. The movies are playing at the Egyptian Theatre, 6712 Hollywood Blvd. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets: $11.
  • Performances of Pulp Shakespeare by Her Majesty's Secret Players will continue through March 4. The play imagines what it might be like if the cult film Pulp Fiction been written by William Shakespeare in Elizabethan England. Tonight's show begins at 8 at Theatre Asylum, 6320 Santa Monica Blvd. Tickets: $20.
