Hollywood Heritage Museum to Host a Paranormal Investigation

The event is part of the museum's October programming line-up.

The Hollywood Heritage Museum is hosting four events in October that range from the creepy to the comedic.

What caught Patch's eye is the museum's partnership with Hidden Los Angeles and Creepy L.A. In celebration of Halloween, the museum is hosting a paranormal investigation team to determine whether its building, the Lasky-DeMille Barn at 2100 North Highland Ave., is indeed haunted. There will also be a panel of speakers knowledgeable in Hollywood ghost lore.

Here's a look at the October events, as provided by the museum:

The film covers the history of the Silent Movie Theatre on Fairfax Avenue with interviews, archival footage and research. The documentary reveals the "touching, twisted, and bloody history of the independent theatre’s successful attempt to stubbornly buck every cinematic trend in the hometown of American cinema." Pre-sale tickets can be purchased at http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/279131 or call 1-800-838-3006.

Oct. 11, 7:30 p.m.

The Lasky-DeMille Barn will host its first Hollywood Party - Sons of the Desert event. The Sons Of The Desert, of the international Laurel & Hardy Appreciation Society, welcomes the Hollywood Party Chapter. Motion Pictures from Hal Roach Studios and more will be screened from archival 16mm film prints, using the collections of seven film archives. Admission is $10 at the door with a portion of the proceeds benefiting Hollywood Heritage Museum. Doors open 6:45 p.m. and the meeting begins 7:30 p.m.

Oct. 18, 7:30 p.m.

Hollywood Heritage will be co-hosting a screening of the original 1922 version of “Robin Hood,” starring Douglas Fairbanks, at the Cinematheque’s Egyptian Theatre.  The museum will present a gift of an original furniture piece from the Egyptian's ladies powder room in honor of the theater's 90th anniversary. Hollywood Heritage will also set up a display of rare memorabilia from the theater that's in the museum's archives. Hollywood Heritage members may buy tickets for $7 when they present their membership card at the box office. Additional details can be found at the Cinematheque website: www.americancinematheque.com

Oct. 19, 7 p.m., 9 p.m.

Hollywood Heritage joins forces with Hidden Los Angeles and CreepyLA.com, for their most unusual event of the season, Halloween at the Barn. The evening will include a slate of speakers giving a presentation on Hollywood ghost lore. A respected paranormal investigation team will reveal the results of their own investigation of the Barn and answer, once and for all, if it’s a haunted landmark. More event features include a Hollywood horror themed photo booth, a paranormal investigation “hands on experience,” and screenings of classic ghost themed short subjects and more! There will be two shows… one at 7 p.m. and one at 9 p.m., so we hope to accommodate everyone! Tickets can purchased at the Event Brite website: http://hauntedbarn.eventbrite.com/

The Lasky-DeMille Barn is located at 2100 N. Highland Avenue, across from the Hollywood Bowl. Parking is free (in Lot D). For additional information visit: www.hollywoodheritage.org
