Hollywood Fetish Filmmaker Guilty in Federal Obscenity Case

Ira Issacs will be sentenced Aug. 6 for five counts connected to producing and mailing obscene material.

Following two mistrials, a Hollywood Hills fetish filmmaker was found guilty Friday of federal obscenity charges.

After deliberating less than two hours, a Los Angeles federal jury convicted Ira Isaacs of five counts connected to the production, sales and shipping of the films Mako's First Time Scat, two volumes of Hollywood Scat Amateurs and Japanese Doggie 3 Way, defense attorney Roger Jon Diamond said.

U.S. District Judge George H. King set Aug. 6 for sentencing.

Isaacs' first case in 2008 ended in a mistrial when the judge recused himself after it was revealed that he had posted sexually explicit photos on his personal website.

A second mistrial was declared last month after the panel voted 10-2 in favor of conviction.

Justice Department prosecutors did not immediately return a call for comment.

Isaacs, 62, was charged with producing obscene material and mailing it across state lines. Jurors were shown the four films, which feature bestiality and defecation.

"This prosecution was another waste of time and money," Diamond said. "It all came down to the makeup of the jury — sometimes you get a majority of liberals and sometimes you get a bunch of uptight people. You never know."
