Some Events Taking Place in Hollywood This Weekend

Concerts and movies aim to offer something for everyone.

The weekend is upon us, and if you're still trying to make plans, here are a few events going on in Hollywood that you might want to check out.

The American Cinematheque and the Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts are hosting a celebration of Spanish cinema. There will be a double feature of two films, "Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown'' and "Matador.'' Both are directed by Pedro Almodovar.

The evening will begin with a wine tasting at 7 p.m. on Friday. The movies will be shown at at 8:15 p.m. at the Egyptian Theatre at 6712 Hollywood Blvd. Tickets are $11 for non-members and $7 for members of the American Cinematheque. Students with identification, senior citizens and kids ages three up to 17 can get in for $9.

Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are scheduled to perform at 7 p.m. on Saturday at the Fonda Theatre at 6126 Hollywood Blvd. For ticket information, call (323) 464-0808.

Andrea Bocelli will perform at 8 p.m. at the Hollywood Bowl at 2301 N. Highland Ave. Tickets are still on sale and range from $72.50 up to $515. To purchase tickets, call Ticketmaster at (800)745-3000.

Pig 'N' Whistle will host LoJo and The Truth at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday at 6714 Hollywood Blvd. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10.
