Hollywood Today: Neighborhood Council Committees to Discuss Alcohol Permits

Also: Congressman Xavier Becerra will host a telephone town hall and film historian Anthony Slide will speak at Hollywood Heritage Wednesday.

The Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council is hosting a meeting for stakeholders in Area 4 and Area 5 to discuss several items:

  • Discuss and vote on a proposal from the Boys and Girls Club of Hollywood to be one of their sponsors of its after-school music program.
  • Presentation of an application for a conditional use permit to serve alcoholic beverages including beer and wine at the Vegas Buffet Hollywood restaurant currently under construction across from Fresh and Easy. Possible motion to support.
  • Presentation about the Chinese Theatres LLC - master land use permit application to permit the sale and dispensing of a full line of alcoholic beverages for on-site consumption with a food service, low key live entertainment and patron dancing for special occassions (e.g. movie premieres, wrap parties, award show banquets and entertainment industry functions).  Possible motion to support
  • A discussion of the Banana Bungalows project on Cahuenga.

  • Film historian Anthony Slide will speak at Hollywood Heritage at 7:30 p.m. He will lead an illustrated presentation on the history of the Hollywood fan magazine. Hear how the gossip, innuendo and national issues of the 1920s, World War II and the blacklist were handled at the time. Tickets: $5-10.
