Academy Awards 2013 Set For Hollywood & Highland Center

Officials announce the ceremony is set for Feb. 24, 2013.

The 2013 Academy Awards ceremony will be held again at the Hollywood & Highland Center, with the event set for Feb. 24, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Wednesday.

Nominations for the 85th Academy Awards will be announced Jan. 15.

There has been some speculation that the Academy might consider moving the Oscar ceremony to a different venue. The Academy notified Hollywood & Highland Center owner CIM Group in December it was not picking up its option to remain at the former Kodak Theatre beyond next year's show.

The Academy has not commented, but some pundits have speculated that the move was a negotiating tactic in hopes of securing a better financial arrangement. Some speculation has also circulated that the awards show might move to the larger Nokia Theatre in downtown Los Angeles.

Oscar ceremonies have been held at the Hollywood & Highland Center since 2002. The theater was called the Kodak Theater before this year's ceremony. Kodak had its name as part of the company's bankruptcy proceedings.
