A Pancake Breakfast and Open House with Hollywood Firefighters Saturday

Pancake fundraiser: Meet your local firefighters at the LAFD Historical Society's annual pancake breakfast Saturday. Bring the family and your neighbors to the breakfast at the , 1355 N Cahuenga Blvd., from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Retired and active firefighters will be cooking up pancakes for residents. The cost is $5 for adults and $3 for children. Proceeds benefit the LAFD Historical Society, museum and memorial. Adjacent Fire Station 27 will be taking part in LAFD’s open house and will have some demonstrations for kids and adults. If breakfast isn’t your thing, all neighborhood fire stations in the city will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Hollywood and nearby locations include: Station 41, 52 and . Don’t forget to bring those cameras!

Neighbhorhood council openings: Anastasia Mann, president of the Hollywood Hills West Neighborhood Council, is seeking candidates for three open board seats—secretary, Area 7 chair and outreach chair. Candidates may be self-nominated. Details are available on the group's website. Submit your request to run and a short bio with your stakeholder status to president@hhwnc.org. Postings for open seats are for 60 days and elections are held at the next full board meeting after the posting period. Single candidate elections are held by the board. If there are two or more candidates, the board and attending stakeholders will vote. The election date is anticipated to be July 20 for all positions.

Homeless outreach: Today Hollywood community leaders will host a briefing at the lobby at 1:30 p.m to provide an update on efforts to assist the homeless population. It has been a year since volunteers combed the streets to survey members of the local homeless population. Since that time, 35 homeless people have been permanently housed with 25 more in the pipeline, and the Hollywood effort has secured nearly $800,000 in grant money. The effort is part of the national 100,000 Homes Campaign.
