‘The Counter’ Named on Forbes’ List of America’s Most Promising Companies

The Culver City-based build-your-own burger chain with locations in Santa Monica, Century City Marina del Rey and Hermosa Beach (among others), was one of just 14 non-tech companies that made the list.

Culver City-based build-your-own-burger chain – The Counter –  has made Forbes' list of America's Most Promising companies. It was just one of 14 non-tech companies that made the cut.

The Counter has 33 locations in the United States including in Santa Monica, Century City, Hollywood, Marina del Rey and Hermosa Beach, and it’s the only restaurant group and burger chain on Forbes’ Top 100 list. The Counter opened its original Santa Monica location in 2003.

"Given the burst of newcomers on the national burger scene in recent years, it's a thrill to receive the recognition by Forbes and to be the only restaurant company on the list this year," said Jeff Weinstein and Craig Albert co-CEOs of The Counter in a joint statement. "Thanks to Forbes for the honor and to our outstanding team, franchise partners and guests for their continued loyalty, support and making this accolade possible."

To each his own. I find their burgers unremarkable. A very clever publicist was hired to woo Forbes magazine. And it worked.

Nice work regurgitating, like some near-digested burger, a clear cut and paste of even then, a lazy pr release: http://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/prnewswire/press_releases/California/2013/02/08/LA56949 AND HERE http://www.wset.com/story/21083717/the-counter-named-on-forbes-list-of-americas-most-promising-companies You'll notice, on both those instances, they give attribution to the media contact. Simply lazy, Kelly. Lazy.
