Kodak Ends Naming Deal with Oscars Venue

A judge allows the company to exit the venue amid bankruptcy restructuring, according to media reports.

The Eastman Kodak Co. received a court approval on Wednesday to end its naming deal with the Hollywood theater that's home to the Academy Awards.

The company is seeking to break off its sponsorship as it tries to improve its finances after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, according to an Associated Press story published on The Huffington Post.

It's unclear whether the name will be on the theater for this year's Oscar telecast. Kodak told the AP the termination is effective immediately.
