Golden Globe award-winning actress Valerie Bertinelli, a fixture on American television sets since the mid-1970s, received the 2,476th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Wednesday.
Bertinelli's co-stars on the TV Land comedy Hot in Cleveland, — Betty White, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick — were among those joining her at the ceremony across the street from Grauman's Chinese Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard.
Bertinelli thanked her fans during the ceremony.
"You guys have such nice things to say to me," she said. "It goes straight into my heart and I take it in, and I want to thank you for that. You have filled my heart and you remind me again and again of what a privileged life I have."
The ceremony came five days before the start of production on the fourth season of Hot in Cleveland. The new episodes will begin airing Nov. 28.
"When Sean Hayes, Todd Milliner and I were putting together our dream cast for 'Hot in Cleveland,' Valerie was on the top of the list," creator Suzanne Daniels told City News Service earlier this week.
"Almost every day, someone asks me if she is as lovely and as lovable in person as she is on camera. We simply adore her."
Bertinelli is best known for her co-starring role on the 1975-84 CBS comedy One Day at a Time. Her portrayal of Barbara Cooper, the youngest daughter of a divorcee (Bonnie Franklin), brought her three Golden Globe award nominations as best supporting actress in a series, miniseries or made-for- television movie. She received the award in 1981 and 1982.
Born April 23, 1960, in Wilmington, Del., Bertinelli began her career appearing in television commercials and public service announcements. Her first series appearance was on a 1974 episode of the CBS family drama Apple's Way.
After One Day at a Time ended its run, Bertinelli regularly starred in made-for-television movies and miniseries, including Shattered Vows, Silent Witness, I'll Take Manhattan, Ordinary Heroes, Pancho Barnes, Taken Away, In a Child's Name, What She Doesn't Know, Murder of Innocence, Two Mothers for Zachary and Night Sins.
Bertinelli also starred in three other series, Sydney, Cafe Americain and Touched by an Angel.
