Oscar Statuette Embarks on National Road Trip

The tour will wrap up Feb. 24 in Hollywood, the day of the 85th Academy Awards ceremony.

Beginning Monday, movie fans in select cities will get a chance to hold an Oscar statuette as part of a new Oscar Roadtrip that will take one of the iconic awards across the country in the weeks leading up to the Academy Awards ceremony in Hollywood.

During the three weeks prior to the awards show, fans will be able to touch and take pictures with the statuette at sites selected in each city based on fan votes cast over social media, according to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The tour will begin Monday in New York, and then move to cities including Philadelphia, Baltimore, Chicago, Houston, Dallas and Phoenix. The tour will wrap up in Hollywood Feb. 24, the day of the 85th Academy Awards ceremony at the Dolby Theatre.
