Jennifer Hudson to Receive Star on Walk of Fame

The singer and actress rocketed to fame on the Fox singing competition "American Idol," in 2004, finishing seventh.

Jennifer Hudson, who went from being a cruise ship singer to an Oscar and Grammy winner in six years, will receive the 2,512th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next Wednesday.

The ceremony at 6262 Hollywood Blvd., in front of the W Hollywood Hotel., will begin at 11:30 a.m. and be streamed at walkoffame.com, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, which administers the Walk of Fame, announced today.

The ceremony will come two weeks before the release of Hudson's latest movie, "Black Nativity," her first musical since her Oscar-winning performance in her film debut in 2006's "Dreamgirls."

Hudson won a best rhythm and blues album Grammy in 2009 for her self- titled debut album.

Her second album, "I Remember Me," was released in March 2011 and was certified as gold by the trade organization the Recording Industry Association of America.

Hudson's other film credits include "Sex and the City: The Movie," "The Secret Life of Bees," "The Inevitable Defeat of Mister and Pete," and "Winnie Mandela."
