VIDEO: Envisioning Hollywood's Future With Found Objects

James Rojas has created a 30-foot interactive diorama, on display Sunday, to help people imagine Hollywood's future.

A creative and interactive exhibit of Hollywood is now on display at Woodbury University's Hollywood art gallery.

James Rojas, a city planner and artist, has recreated a 30-foot diorama of Hollywood’s urban landscape using a variety of odds and ends to give people an opportunity to reshape and envision the community’s future.

“It’s really a fun way to get people engaged and thinking about the city in a different way, rather than going to a community meeting where people are always talking about ideas and abstract language,” Rojas told Patch. “Here they can physically build their ideas and show people what they want.”

In his diorama, Rojas included a vision for Hollywood Central Park and turned Fountain and Franklin avenues into bike lanes.

“These ideas can really provoke people into thinking: “What is the future of Hollywood?’ and ‘How can I make it a sustainable place?’” Rojas said.

WUHO Gallery is at 6518 Hollywood Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90028. Open Sunday 1 p.m.to 6 p.m.
